The Super Eagles of Nigeria has been confirmed to face host, Cote d’Ivoire in Group A in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) following the draw that took place in Abidjan on Thursday.
Nigeria (three-time champions) will also compete with Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau, who complete the list of countries in Group A.
Elsewhere, the Pharaohs of Egypt (most successful team with 7 AFCON titles) will slug it out with Black Stars of Ghana, Cape Verde and Mozambique in Group B.
In a related development, defending champions Senegal, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Guinea and The Gambia will trade tackles in Group C.
Group D has the likes of two-time winners Algeria, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Black Sable Antelopes of Angola.
Similarly, the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, Mali, Bafana Bafana of South Africa, not forgetting Namibia are in Group E.
Group F comprises North African side, Morocco, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chipolopolo of Zambia (2012 champions) and Tanzania.
The 34th edition of the biggest football tournament involving twenty-four (24) African nations will run through January 13 to February 11, 2024.
